WHAT'S HAPPENING AT DAKAR?

A ROOKIE ON THE DAKAR THANKS TO BFGOODRICH TIRES

Thanks to BFGoodrich® Tires, 29-year old Markus Walcher from Germany and his co-driver Tobias Henschel will be given an opportunity to live their dream when they contest the Dakar for the very first time in January.

The pair was selected following BFGoodrich® Tires' Good Project Special Dakar competition which was organized in association with fellow-Dakar partner Motul. The package included coaching from four of the brand’s top driver-ambassadors. “It was fantastic to receive advice and tips from the likes of Nani Roma, Armin Schwartz, Christian Lavieille and Mikko Hirvonen,” enthused Markus Walcher. “My father did the Dakar eight times. It’s a great adventure and I inherited his taste for discovering new places and I have been fascinated by the challenge of the event since I was a kid. He’s now 60 but he will be joining me on the Dakar in his Unimog truck which is equipped as a service vehicle. I will also be assisted by a group of close, competent friends.”

BFGoodrich® Tires covered Markus’s entry fee for the 2018 Dakar and will provide tyres for the event. “It’s important for a brand like BFGoodrich® Tires to support the upcoming generation of crosscountry rally drivers,” says Anne-Sophie Jarrige, BFGoodrich® Tires' marketing manager for Europe. “Markus has sound experience already and he clearly boasts the necessary qualifications. We wish him the very best for the Dakar.”
